About the Artist

Gerald Zwers – Artist Bio/Statement

Award-winning as both an artist and an author, Gerald Zwers is one of the most versatile and creative artists working today.   The owner of five previous galleries in California with a background in art conservation, Gerald’s works have been acquired by collectors in nearly all fifty states as well as nine foreign countries.

Hard-working and tremendously dedicated, Gerald Zwers’s abundant creativity typically generates several hundred works of art each year. This impressive multi-media output includes paintings that range in size from postage stamp-sized miniatures to large public murals.  His subject matter includes traditional landscapes and seacapes (often painted on location in plein-air style),  as well as large studio designed contemporary concept pieces and abstracts.

The variety of his sculptures include a series of smaller 2”-12” terra cotta figurines ( of which he has created nearly 1000 ), as well as large internally-lighted sculptural pieces, often found in hotels or other public places. A number of his works have been installed in various municipal venues.

Actively being of service to others is very important to this artist. Gerald has served on the boards of directors of several non-profit agencies and helped in the formation of the area hospice. He has served as president, treasurer, and advisor to a number of arts organizations, been elected as representative on school site councils, worked with youth groups (including Big Brothers/Big Sisters), served as a board member of a museum and was appointed to the Ventura County Arts Commission.
